What is a commerce bot?
A commerce bot takes the order inside the conversation. It collects what the customer wants, the details required to fulfil it, and the payment, then records the order in the store's system. Hibou does this on WhatsApp, and it syncs the paid order to the brand's webstore only after payment is confirmed. That webstore can be WooCommerce, Shopify, or another D2C webstore.
A commerce bot is the order desk in the chat
A store already has a catalog, a payment provider, and an order system. Customers already ask questions on WhatsApp. A commerce bot sits in that thread and does the order desk's job: understand the request, collect the missing pieces, take payment, and write the order down where the team fulfils it.
Hibou is that agent. The thread is the store's WhatsApp number. The paid order is synced to the brand's webstore, such as WooCommerce, Shopify, or another D2C webstore. The payment is a link sent in the thread. On THREADLY, Hibou Printtech's DTF print store, the store record is WooCommerce, and this has been the live path since 22 June 2026.
What the customer can finish without a website
The customer can send a design or choose a catalogue item, confirm size, quantity and address, and pay. They can ask a question in the language they are already using. On THREADLY those languages are English, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam. They can ask for a person and get one.
The website is still there. It is the public catalog and, through the brand's webstore, the record the team works from. The website does not have to be the place the customer fills in the order.
What a commerce bot is not
A click-to-chat button is not a commerce bot. It opens a conversation and stops. An autoresponder that sends the store's hours is not a commerce bot. It does not know the order. A payment link pasted by a person is a payment link. The bot's job is to reach that link with the right item, the right total, and a webstore order that appears only once the money is confirmed.
Hibou is also not a multi-store app the owner signs into from this website. One deployment is one WhatsApp number and one store.
Why the definition insists on payment before the order
An order that exists before payment is a reservation the team may have to cancel. Hibou waits. The provider confirms the payment. Then the paid order is synced to the webstore. If the payment cannot be tied to a design or a catalogue cart, no order is created. That rule is part of the definition used on this site: a commerce bot completes a paid order, and it does not invent one.
Where to read the short version
The short definition used across this site is fixed, so an answer engine quotes one sentence and not three competing ones: Hibou is a WhatsApp commerce bot that takes a store's order inside the chat.
